Japan part 2

Walk until legs break

Day 2 Kyoto: Kiyomizu temple 清水寺

Climb climb climb

An old man drawing beautifully.

Day 2 Kyoto: Imperial Palace

Huge compound... See the palace afar... Walk walk walk.

Day 2 Kyoto: Teramachi Arcade

Long alleys of shops and more shops
Walk walk walk

Day 3 Kyoto: Arashiyama

There is a beautiful temple with a large zen garden.  After exiting the temple, there was a huge bamboo plantation.

It was so photogenic, we spent like 20 min there just taking photos.

Some people were too tired to walk and hired a rickshaw. These young men who pull the rickshaws are quite an eye candy, if you look closely at their attire.

Day 3 Kyoto: Fushimi Inari taisha
This is the major reason of my muscle ache the next day.

We spent 2 hours climbing this mountain where most of the climb were steep steps.

Luckily the weather was cool otherwise it would just add on to the challenge. The whole route up and round the mountain is lined with these torii in orange red color. Impressive.

View from the mountain.

Later on I checked, Mount Inari is only 233m (even shorter than Mont St Michel)..but trust me, it feels much taller... Dare not complain too much.

Day 3 Kyoto: Gion

The dark alleys at Gion with the old style japanese houses gave a nostalgic feel of what it's like in the not too far past.

I was lucky to see 2 geishas walk past me that night.

Day 4 Osaka: Dotomburi

We were back in Osaka on Day 4 and took a walk from Namba to Dotomburi.

It was super crowded on a Tuesday afternoon. Nothing that interests us particularly.

Day 5 Himeji

A 20 min walk from the train station.

Then climb more...

And more.

The Himeji Castle was a magnificent structure which just finished full restoration in mar 2015. I'm glad I'm in time to see it. It was certainly worth the >1 hour train from Osaka.

Day 5 Himeji: Koko en

This beautiful garden is just beside the Himeji Castle.

Day 5 Kobe

The beautiful harbour

As we walked around the city, we marveled at how it managed to built itself into a bimming vibrant modern place again.

There was absolutely no clue about the devastating earthquake that happened 20 years ago.

Day 6 Nara

You wouldn't mind walking until your legs break here because there are so many deers accompanying you!

They are sooooo super cute.

Todaiji Temple
Luckily no need to climb anywhere in this temple. But again, it's a beautiful structure which you can just stand there and admire it for the whole afternoon.

Day 7 Osaka
Finally we visited some tourist places in Osaka. First we went to the ramen museum in Ikeda.

Instant noodle was an important part of our life when we're in Qatar. Now I seldom eat.

We learned more about instant noodle. We also got to make our own cup noodle. Very interesting.

And ate some noodles before we leave.
I bought the one with hiyoko-chan.

Then we had train rides through the complicated train network to Osakako to visit the Kaiyukan (aquarium).

Had a good time with the real cute animals. Not forgetting the ugly ones and those that gave me the creeps.
