End of Year Trip 2025 TAIWAN

First time on a Starlux flight to Taiwan. Took off at 2.45pm on 8 Dec 2025.


Landed at 7.25pm. We booked a airport transfer to Yilan from KKday. Received the driver's message as soon as we landed and she was waiting for us outside when we exited the airport at about 8pm.

We reached our Yilan hotel (村却温泉酒店） at about 9.30pm. While we were checking in, we met the 董事长 of the hotel. It started with a casual chat about how we came straight to Yilan from the airport. Papa asked if there is any food to buy in the vicinity. The 董事长 told us to go up to their rooftop bar to have some snacks and drinks as it is too late to go out and it's raining.

We went to our room to put down our luggage


and went up to the rooftop bar. He was waiting there and ordered food and drinks for us. It was not just some snacks, it was a tableful. And he didn't let us pay for anything.

9 Dec 2025 (Tue)
The next morning, it was still pouring outside. We had a slow breakfast, wondering whether we should go out despite the rain.

We decided to wait for a while to see if the rain will stop. The girls and I changed into swimsuits and went down to the public hotspring tubs.

There were only 2 pools available that day. One was 27 degC and the other was 41.1degC. The 27 degC was just too cold, so we stayed in the 41.1 degC water. Adelle could not take the 41.1 degC. so she stayed in the 27 degC pool most of the time. 

Papa went to the gym.


We went to the  传艺园区 albeit the rain.

We purchased 2 DIY activities. They chose to make the metal keychains.

There was this mist in the park, which I didn't see the objective. But the kids were amused.


We stayed at 传艺 until about 5pm, then went to 罗东夜市. It was raining and there were many stalls not open. We bought a few snacks and went back to the hotel.

On the way back to hotel, we stopped at a random shop for beef noodles. Surprisingly satisfying.


Went back to hotel to enjoy the snacks we bought at 罗东夜市。

For the next 2 days, we hired a driver + guide to bring us around Yilan.
On 10 Dec 2025 9 (Wed), first stop was 清水地热公园。



We bought eggs， corn and edamame to cook in the hot spring boiling water.


Sat down to peel eggs and eat the tasteless things we cooked.



We went to a spring onion farm 葱仔寮体验农场。

Eat 葱油饼. They put really little spring onion so the 葱油饼 is mostly dough.

Tried harvesting one spring onion each.


Washed the spring onion for the next person making 葱油饼.



We went to 星夢森林劇場, a petting zoo. It is pretty small and with few types of animals, but clean and didn't smell like shit all over the place.

We ran out of places to go by only 2.30pm, so driver brought us to this dessert factory which makes dorayaki and baumkuchen. It looks very popular with a lot of local senior citizen tour groups.

Then we went to the Jimmy Plaza. I really liked Jimmy's illustrations in those days.

The driver dropped us off at 罗东夜市. It's not raining, so a lot more stalls are open. We manage to try some night market street food.

11 Dec 2025 (Thu)
After breakfast, hotel staff offered some fish food to the kids so that they can go feed the kois.



We checked out of Cuncyue Hot Spring Hotel in the morning and put the luggage on the car.

There wasn't much to do at the bubble tea museum. We just walked through the simple exhibits and drank one cup of bubble tea. Papa told the driver about this seafood factory he saw on the internet.

So we reached the Siho Aquatic Development Tourism Factory.

The driver dropped us off at 礁溪 train station and we took the train to Taipei. Our next hotel was the Brown Hotel near the main station.




It was already quite late so we just picked a nearby ramen shop for dinner. 




12 Dec 2025 (Fri) Taipei

In the morning, we had a simple breakfast standing in the alleys behind our hotel. We had a toast sandwich, 饭团，小笼包， soybean milk.




We took a train then a cable car up to 猫空.






Raining again up at 猫空.


We stopped at a western restaurant for early lunch.



After lunch, we took the cable car down to the Taipei Zoo. It started raining more heavily so we were just walking around slowly.



in the evening, we went to Taiepei 101. We ate dinner at the Taipei 101 Food court.
Roselle chose chicken rice Adelle chose 卤肉饭 with 排骨。Why would anyone want to eat chicken rice in Taiwan?!?!


Spent $20+ per pax to go up to the Taipei 101 Observatory but the visibility was very very poor. Could not see much.



13 Dec 2025 (Sat) Taipei

We had no plans today except to meet up with old friends for dinner. It was drizzling in the morning, we didn't know where to go. Chia-Lung and Emily suggested we go to the Science Museum. After some research, we realised there is a local amusement park beside it. 


After a few hours of kids' fun, we took a bus to 西门町. Adelle and papa slept on the bus.



We had 鴨肉扁 for lunch.



As we bought quite a bit of stuff in 西门町, we decided to go back to the hotel to drop the things. We walked back to the hotel from 西门町. In the evening, we went to Songjiang Nanjing MRT station, 陶板屋和風洋食 台北南京東店 to meet our friends for dinner.



Sometimes, just seeing friends still the same is a very happy thing, and worth celebrating.


14 Dec 2025 (Sun) Taipei

We had a MacDonald breakfast. Then, had a walk around the Taipei streets. We stopped by this 如邑堂餅家. They really let the customers try to their satisfaction. A bit out of paisehness, we bought 太阳饼 and lemon cakes.



Then we went to 新光三越 just beside our hotel. Papa bought a pair of shoes and Roselle found her school backpack. We then went back to the hotel to check out. We had to make our way to 桃园.

We took the 高铁 from Taipei station to 桃园.





We stayed at CP Hotel 青埔商旅.

We took a cab to the Gloria Outlets. The kids had ramen at the foodcourt there. There was a christmas market, maybe why there was a lot of people.


After that, we went to a hotpot restaurant near our hotel for a more proper last dinner， 日尝海鲜锅物。





15 Dec 2025 (Mon) Taipei
Our Starlux flight home was very early at 8.30am. We booked a taxi from the hotel to the airport at 6am. We had breakfast in the airport.




The kids enjoyed the flight back.
