Lombok trip (day 4)
The not so happy side of this trip is the war with mosquitoes and other flying creatures.
We paid IDR 650,000 for a guide to take us to the 3 Gilis (islands). We met him at 9am at the beach near Qunci. Our boat is the only pink one, isn't that joyous?

We also visited a turtle conservatory where they keep all the small little turtles and send them back to the sea when they are older.
Second island is named Gili Meno. It was much quieter than Gili Trawangan.
Don't you think I already look very tanned? Oh no.
Flowers were from my sweet tour guide.
We finally stopped at Gili Air for lunch.
We ordered a fish, which attracted like a thousand houseflies.
It was a Friday, so we had a long lunch to give our tour tour guide and boatman more time for prayers.
After staying in the middle east for a few years, I became very conscious about the Ramadan period. I felt guilty drinking and eating in public during Ramadan as I know all the Muslims are fasting. It seemed that the locals here are very used to the foreigners having normal meals while they fast.
After lunch, we tried to do a bit of snorkeling. It was really not easy without a proper instructor. We gave up after a while but I did manage to take a look at the corals. In fact, the water was so clear that i already saw the corals from the boat.
My husband managed to take a photo of me in my snorkeling gear...
At around 3pm, we made out way back to Lombok. It was raining in Lombok and the waters were very choppy. The ride was very rough and I was all wet by the end of the ride. Luckily both of us do not get sea sick easily.
p.s. Last night, we heard the news of MH17 being shot down in Ukraine. It was shocking and sad. My deepest condolences are with the friends and family of the victims.
By now I'm the proud killer of more than 10 mosquitoes. Look at how poisonous these creatures are. I developed a blister after the mosquito bite. I counted 8 bites on my limbs, of which, 2 developed blisters already.
I now have a compulsive disorder of making sure the doors to the bedroom are always closed. There is a walk-in wardrobe in our villa which trapped so many mosquitoes that we call it the Mosquito Chamber.
The mosquitoes in Sudamala is really so much more than Qunci. Did I just find out why Qunci charges more than Sudamala?

The first island we went is Gili Trawangan. The beaches were beautiful but a bit crowded. I was surprised that there were so many people staying here. Sengigi seemed a bit deserted compared to here.
The beach.
The streets.
Full of cafes, restaurants and hotels on both side.
