Sick
This time, I was sick longer than any time I remembered.
I had no voice for more than a week. For a person who likes to talk a lot, it was really depressing. Really. Don't laugh.
I had to "ration" my voice consistently. Conversations have to be short, best are one-word answers - "yes", "no", "huh?", "ok lah..." (though no voice, cannot sacrifice singlish). If I kei-kiang and attempt a long sentence,
"I will email the contents to you later, you let me know..." - can only hear the first 3 words at most. By the fourth word, can only hear a 走音 pronunciation and subsequently.... nothing.
The worst thing is not being able to sleep in peace at night. This is really the most unfortunate thing to happen to one, especially when one is sick.
I also realized how kind and patient everyone is around me. With that kind of stupid voice and frequent coughing, I might have being chased out of wherever I was. I appreciate everyone's tolerance towards my irritating presence. I appreciate everyone's well wishes. Thank you, colleagues, friends and my family.
It's also a time when you find out who are the people who really cares for you...
... And who are just Hi-Bye aquaintance.
I WISH EVERYONE GOOD HEALTH FOR 2008.
There's nothing more valuable than this.
