In 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, we initially wanted Adelle to attend Edufarm Startots at the RC of Blk 48 as soon as she turns 18 months. No special reason except that was the path Roselle took. But this Startots closed during Covid-19 period. Several calls with the Edufarm which they said they will be re-opening but see no light. Out of sheer genius, I decided to give QGSK a call after seeing a really small child in its uniform. QGSK told me they are starting PG class in Jan 2021. We happily enrolled her. Her cousins also attended QGSK so we were quite familiar with it. Adelle has been attending Playgroup in QGSK since Jan 2021.
QGSK was not that bad except for a period when they were struggling with getting a teacher for PG class. Even the principal has to conduct the class lessons because there was no teacher. The updates in the school app is also very skimpy.
However, Adelle did make good progress in the school, I have to give them some credit. She was initially slow in her speech but now I think she's quite average.
In May 2022, Nainai suggested letting Adelle to attend full-day childcare. So I went to the ECDA website and registered my interest in some of the childcare centres near Nainai's house.
Surprisingly I got a reply from all 3 centres.
We decided to enrol in the Blk 78B PCF as our neighbour's girl is currently there in K2. After submitting all the documents, went for a school tour etc, we thought we can join it in Sep 2022.
In late Jul 2022, I felt a bit insecured about this and decided to write an email to Blk 78B PCF about our enrolment. The principal replied that they will inform me when the registration is done. This gave me a shock - means registration not done yet?! A week later, I found out that the principal for Blk 78B PCF has resigned. That was the last email from her. Subsequently, I made calls to the admin clerk Ms Elaine because she did not reply my emails. Ms Elaine said "I'm very busy. I'll call you after I do the registration." This makes me even more uncomfortable.
At the same time, we were informed by QGSK that they are transiting from a kindergarten to a childcare centre. I attended a very interesting parents' engagement session on 29 Jul 2022. The session started at 6 and I thought I will be out before 7. In the end, I stayed all the way until 8.15pm. Yah, it was that interesting.
It all sounded very nice until they announce the fees. It is the fees of a premium childcare centre.
Not that I'm very stingy. But if they dare to position their fees like this, they would need to show they deserve it, like if they have very good programmes, very good teachers, very good reputation. I don't think they have these yet.
I don't know what luck we had but at this juncture, Blk 53A PCF called and asked whether we are still interested to enrol in it. I was like, of cos! In a matter of days, I went down to the centre to submit all the paperwork, paid the deposit and registration fees. And Adelle was enrolled. What a contrast to the dragging feet of Blk 78B PCF.

Update again when Adelle join Blk 53A PCF.
