Dubai Day 1 morning

Enjoyed the breakfast which the Hotel has given to us complimentary. Satisfactory but not "fantabulous"... the usual cereals, salads, cheeses, egg counter, bread and pastries.

Good that they have something asian... some vege fried noodles...

and plain porridge with condiments.

Oh I took this photo of the welcome drink I received the previous night.
Did you think that I have already drank from it? No, I didn't. I whispered to my husband, did someone sipped from my glass while I was not looking?
After I drank it, I knew what was wrong. Must be they forgot to add plain water into this syrup. Because it's super concentrated.

After breakfast, it was only 9am. Today is Friday and we're quite sure Dubai, as a Arabic country, will be nearly deserted on Fridays, just like Doha. Though Doha is getting less so. I suggested going for a swim in the Hotel's rooftop pool.

It's a very small pool. We had the pool to ourselves. There were two angmoh young chaps sunbathing while reading. I thought they were quite out of their mind. The sun in this part of the world is very very strong.

A shot outside our hotel room before we head out.

The metro is not operating until 1pm+ on Fridays. We decided to take a walk down to the Deira Creek to take a river taxi.

A lot of Dubai hotels have this revolving door which I have not seen in other cities. This is the one in our Hotel.

Day's view of the Hotel.

We walked down the streets, marveling at how there are actually pedestrian ways. Because we're so used to their absence in Doha.

Saw a Singapore flag outside a hotel. Yes, I am very patriotic, must take a photo.

We saw a Spinney's. Couldn't resist going in for a look.

The pork section.

Pretending to wait for a bus. Their bus stops are air conditioned. Good place to take a rest after the long walk.

Finally reached the Creek.

There are a lot of such boats there.

But we rode this instead. Haha.. It's so hot, sun in the eyes, wind in the hair. More comfortable to take an air conditioned boat with shelter. HAHA... same price lah...

We just randomly alighted at another water station. It's a station at the Old Souq. Reminds me of the scene in Sex and the City when the leads went to Dubai.

Then it's time to head back to our Hotel because we booked a desert safari and the tour agency will pick us up.
