1. Wedding dinner venue

Finally, back in Singapore. For the past one week in Singapore, have been diligently preparing for the wedding.

First thing to confirm: Wedding dinner venue

I always knew I do not want to hold the usual hotel ballroom kind of wedding dinner. Everytime I attend a hotel wedding dinner, it's always the same run-down. Seriously, I think there must be some SOP set by the Hotel Association or something.

I researched on the internet for potential venues. Actually if you're looking for unconventional wedding venues, there're still a lot of cool choices...

La Ville
I really like the place. It is an independent villa, you can have the whole place to yourself and your guests. However, it's a pity they serve angmoh (Italian) food. It could be suitable for inviting friends, but for relatives which are elder, sure will kena complaints.

Club Hotel Yin Yang Rooftop Bar

This a really pretty rooftop bar which is available for booking the entire place. The down side is that there's a limit to the number of people it can hold and most of the areas are outdoors. If it rains, it's going to be troublesome. And no aircon in hot & humid Singapore, another type of rain will happen too.

I also looked at Graze@Rochester, British Club, Kha@Hortpark...

Finally decided to hold the dinner at a chinese restaurant. At the end of the day, I think it's not about us having a posh setting to hold our wedding, or is there a need to show that our wedding venue is special. We just hope the guests will enjoy the food and have a good time. Maybe it's just me, but after staying abroad for so long, chinese food is my favourite. And elder relatives will appreciate chinese food more.

We decided on Grand Shanghai. I like the decorations especially the big chandeliers (the first photo below I got from its website show some yellow lamps instead of the chandeliers, the second photo was taken by me). It is also quite spacious, so it doesn't have the usual crampness of a chinese restaurant.

Ok, one thing settled.
