Recent work

All these years, I've read wastewater treatment processes from textbooks, lecture notes, literature etc. I've set up lab-scale wastewater treatment systems. I've visited existing wastewater treatment plants. I've worked on full scale projects, but only membrane-based plants. Nothing ever come close to this. Finally, I can play a part in a full scale (or should I say mega scale) wastewater treatment plant - a conventional activated sludge system.
I've been constantly reminding myself I'm very lucky to have this chance.

This project has its difficulties and constraints. Well, which doesn't? Contrary to what many people may think, I like it very much.

Sewage is coming into the plant in a couple of months' time. Can you imagine seeding such a big bioreactor? And tons of sewage being treated daily? It's terribly exciting.

First wet test - Grit pump. Very exciting too -see 8 engineers (plus me, 9) on standby for commissioning 1 pump. Haha...

I was talking to a friend the other day. He said he was glad I love my work but could never understand why I like wastewater projects. I did try to explain to him but gave up. He's not in this field, he won't understand.

My colleague, Soo Wei Lek gave me a set of very pretty magic pens!
I think I've never really own such a large set before even when I was young. Childhood deprivation...

Now I can color my P&IDs. Thanks, Soo! (though I know the company paid for it, not you, haha...)
