The next stage in my life

I am going to advance to the next stage in my life - working life.

I've studied for 16 years, primary thru uni, another 2 years of postgrad, a total of 18 years 青春 sacrificed to earning a few pieces of paper with my name and some other person's signature on it.

At last, I'm embarking... to a new chapter.

It's not that I've not worked before. I've been working since A levels finished.
My working experience:
  1. Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore
    Temporary Clerical Officer
  2. Keppel Tat Lee Bank
    Temp
  3. National University of Singapore
    Intern
  4. Singapore Press Holdings, Her World Magazine
    Temp
  5. Mediacorp Sinagapore
    Temp
  6. Keppel Engineering
    Project Engineer

I sort of pride myself for trying out many job areas before. Though a few were merely temp jobs, I've put in time and effort in everyone of them. Undeniably, there were all very interesting too.

The project engineer post in Keppel was my first real job actually. I just graduated from NUS, equipped with whatever limited engineering knowledge, I tried to find my way around. I started the first few days of my work typing, photocopying, faxing etc, the things an office-boy will do. Then I progressed to coordinating, implementing, trouble-shooting and designing.

I have more than once mentioned my gratitude towards the company. They had more trust in me than I had in myself. Sometimes, I'm overwhelmed with what they have given me (though not in monetary terms) rather than what I've given them.

I know they're still underpaying me. I know I will have to work my butts off for long hours. However, I'm going back. I can't seem to reject them.

My guilt goes to my two friends, Alicia and Teresa. I'm sorry I have to pull out from the backpack trip.

And many thanks to my current boss. I am sort of leaving prematurely, but he's very supportive and kind towards this.

The future is not entirely bright and clear but I will tread with optimism.
