The next step
I have sold 8 years of my 青春 to Keppel. I finally mustered enough courage to resign and take on another job. I have been on a lookout in the job market but when the new job offer presented itself, it was still a surprise. And a difficult decision.
There were good times and bad. I shall not elaborate. You know nowadays, things you write on the cyber could work against you in future, haha.
Keppel has given me lots of exposure and valuable experience. But up to a point, I start to wonder, is the pasture greener on the other side. That's the curiosity which kills the cat and also the one which makes men uncontented and sought the unknown. That's how our human race evolved.
I comforted myself that it's just a job. I didn't even struggle when I decided to get married, so why should a job matter this much.
I prepped myself that the new company and new environment is not going to be a bed of roses and it shouldn't be a shock if I have to work twice as hard. I do look forward to learning new things and meeting new people.
I resigned on 21 Aug which means I have to serve 2 months notice till 20 Oct. I had about 3 weeks of rest, including few days of annual leave to clear, before I start work on 3 Nov. This is a good break when I could rest mentally and do some things which I have been itching to do and
After this, it will be a new start. For better or for worse.
