Bye Bye Ginza Plaza

When I was in Primary 5, Aug 1992, there was an explosion at the construction site just beside our house. I still remembered only my brother and I were at home alone because there was a National Day celebration in school and we only attended morning's activites. My parents were at work. My neighbours' windows were all shattered. Ours didn't, good quality windows hor?
Nevertheless, it was completed in the following year.

Ginza Plaza

I was there nearly everyday. During my secondary school days, my classmates loved to hang around there (mainly because JEC was overcrowded always). During JC days, my friend and I loved to study there. During my University days, I had to walk through it everyday to get to school.

In 2008, it closed down. I still remembered the last day was CNY eve. Sometimes you never realize how big a role someone plays in your life until he disappears. However, the "ugly" truth is, time heals all wounds. Then we start to forget about him... (hmm... we all know 天荒地老 doesn't exist)

I thought it was just closed for some interior renovations. Very surprised to see them demolishing nearly the whole building.

And rebuilding again.

Construction at night too

Nearly completed but still untidy

Today, I stepped into the building again. Only a few shops were opened for the moment: Cold Storage, Subway, BATA, Watsons. More coming soon.

And it's time to remind myself to stop using its former name, Ginza Plaza.

I think Ginza Plaza sounds nice! My secondary friends and I used to gather at an ice-cream store that allows people to write notes and pin them onto it. We were so bo liao at that time and had great fun doing it. We also visited the Macs every now and then to rot our time after school. All these experiences are engraved in our minds already. That's why Ginza Plaza lives forever! :P
